Google has started rolling out the April 2025 update for Pixel devices. This update is available as an over-the-air (OTA) download for the latest Pixel 9 series, Pixel Tablet, and older Pixel devices running Android 15. It brings important bug fixes and security patches.
Bug Fixes in the April Update
The April update addresses several issues reported by users. One of the main fixes is for the fingerprint recognition, which wasn’t working properly under certain conditions on devices from the Pixel 6 series to the Pixel 9 models. The update also improves camera stability, particularly when zooming in or out.
Additionally, the update fixes a screen brightness flickering issue that occurred while using OTT streaming apps. Users also reported problems with the user interface, such as overlapping views on the lock screen weather clock and issues when switching users or creating a new user in the Pixel Launcher. Both of these issues have been resolved.
Security Patch
Apart from bug fixes, the April 2025 update also includes a security patch that addresses three vulnerabilities in the system. One of the vulnerabilities, labeled as “critical,” is identified as CVE-2025-26415, which was found in the Google Assistant subcomponent. Two other vulnerabilities, CVE-2024-56190 and CVE-2024-56189, were found in the Broadcom WLAN driver and modem subcomponents, respectively. These issues were marked as "high" in severity.
