UIDAI new Aadhaar app

UIDAI Launches New Aadhaar App for Face Verification

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a brand-new Aadhaar mobile app on April 8, 2025, during the third edition of Aadhaar Samvaad in Delhi. The app is designed to make Aadhaar-based identity verification easier, faster, and more secure — all from your smartphone.

🔐 What’s New in the App?

This new app helps users verify their Aadhaar instantly using just a QR code or face recognition, making it safer and more private than carrying physical documents.

Say Goodbye to Paper Copies

Until now, people often had to carry photocopies of their Aadhaar cards while checking into hotels, traveling, or shopping. With this app, that’s no longer needed. Now, you can just scan a QR code or use face ID to confirm your identity — just like making a UPI payment!

🔍 Privacy and Control for Users

The app also focuses on privacy and consent. Your Aadhaar data is shared only when you approve it, and the information is sent directly from your phone to the verifier — no need to hand over a physical card.

🌍 Limited Use for Now, Full Rollout Soon

At present, only select users who attended the Aadhaar Samvaad event can use the app. UIDAI will take feedback from these early users to improve the app before it is launched nationwide.

🧠 Why It Matters

  • Instant, digital Aadhaar verification

  • No need to carry paper copies

  • Face ID and QR code-based authentication

  • More control over your personal data

  • Easy to use – similar to scanning for UPI

The new app aims to make everyday Aadhaar usage smoother, safer, and smarter for all Indians.
