A tragic incident occurred in Delhi's Mustafabad area early Saturday morning, where a four-storey building collapsed around 2:39 AM. The death toll has now climbed to 11, with the building’s 60-year-old landlord, Tehsin, also among the victims.
According to officials, eight of the deceased were from the same family, including four children and three women.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and local volunteers worked non-stop for over 12 hours to pull survivors and bodies from the rubble.
Out of the 22 people trapped, 11 were injured. Six of them have been treated and discharged, while five are still in the hospital.
The police and fire department responded quickly after receiving a distress call at around 2:50 AM. When they arrived, they found the building completely collapsed, with people trapped underneath the debris.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her sorrow and said an investigation is underway to find out the cause of the collapse. “My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives. I pray for their strength during this difficult time,” she said.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, and authorities are making sure no one else is left under the rubble.
