Actor Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Avantika Malik, recently opened up about the emotional struggle she went through during her divorce. In a conversation on Janice Sequeira’s YouTube show, Avantika shared how deeply affected she was when her marriage with Imran began falling apart.
‘I thought I wouldn’t survive’
Avantika said that during that time, she believed she wouldn’t be able to live without Imran. “I felt like if my marriage broke, I would die. I didn’t have confidence in myself and I was very scared,” she shared. She also remembered the day they decided to separate, saying it felt like someone close had died. “I wept like I had lost a family member. I thought I was finished. I believed there was no way I could move on or build a new life.”
She also said that she wasn’t earning at the time, which added to her fears. “I know I come from privilege, and I wouldn’t be homeless, but the fear was real,” Avantika said.
Guilt and pressure
Avantika also spoke about feeling like she let people down. “We were seen as this happy, perfect couple. When we separated, I felt like I had disappointed everyone—family, friends, society. It was very hard for me to let go of that guilt and pressure.”
About their relationship
Imran Khan and Avantika Malik were childhood sweethearts. They got married in 2011 and separated in 2019. They have a daughter, Imara Malik Khan, born in 2014.
Currently, Imran Khan is dating Lekha Washington, and reports say the two started seeing each other around 2020.
