Kia has introduced two exciting electric cars in India – the EV6 and the EV9. Both vehicles were tested at Kia’s test track in Andhra Pradesh, which is built to mimic all types of Indian road conditions.
Kia EV6: Stylish, Powerful, and Fast
The new EV6 looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie. It's sleek, modern, and very powerful. It’s a large electric hatchback (4.7 meters long) with a spacious cabin. Over half the dashboard is a screen that lets you control navigation, music, phone, driving modes, and more.
Performance:
The EV6 is extremely fast – it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. It also handles turns well, thanks to its low center of gravity (the battery is under the floor). The brakes are strong, making the drive feel safe and in control.
Driving Range:
Kia claims it can go 663 km on a full charge. During testing, it showed about 400 km under heavy use. In normal conditions, it can easily manage 500 km.
One-Pedal Driving:
You can drive it with just one pedal. When you take your foot off the accelerator, the car slows down quickly, saving energy and increasing battery range.
Price & Value:
The EV6 costs around ₹65.96 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to other EVs in its segment, it offers more space and better performance. It’s a strong competitor to cars like the Volvo C40, BMW i4, and Mercedes EQA. Only the Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes close in value.
Kia EV9: Big, Bold & Award-Winning
The EV9 is Kia’s biggest electric car so far. It’s a proper 7-seater SUV and was recently named World Car of the Year 2024.
Design & Space:
It has a bold, boxy design but looks futuristic. Inside, it’s very roomy — even the third row fits adults comfortably. The second-row captain seats come with massage and relaxation features, and there's even a sunroof just for that row!
Features:
-
Digital cabin mirror (shows the rear view through a camera)
-
Large touchscreen dashboard
-
Built-in charging ports for laptops and other devices
Price:
The EV9 is quite expensive at around ₹1.29 crore, more than the Mercedes EQS SUV. While it’s full of features and space, Kia may need to price it better for Indian buyers.
Final Thoughts:
-
The EV6 is fast, stylish, and offers good value.
-
The EV9 is super spacious and luxurious but comes at a high price.
Both models show that Kia is serious about the future of electric vehicles.
