Kawasaki, known for its powerful motorcycles and outdoor vehicles, has introduced a wild new concept that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie – a robotic bike called Corleo, which walks and jumps on legs instead of using wheels.
This unique invention blends motorcycle design with robotic technology from Kawasaki’s lesser-known robotics division. It looks a bit like a horse and a dirt bike had a futuristic baby.
A Ride That Feels Like a Horse
When you sit on the Corleo, the seat feels more like a horse saddle than a regular bike seat. There are stirrups and handlebars that act like reins, giving riders a horse-like riding experience. But the real magic is underneath – instead of tires, it has four robotic legs with rubber hooves that help it walk, run, and jump over rough terrain.
Powered by Hydrogen
The Corleo runs on a 150cc hydrogen engine, which powers the legs using electricity. Riders can control the movement by shifting their weight, and smart sensors in the stirrups and bars guide the robot’s actions. Whether it’s water, rocks, or rough trails – the Corleo handles it all without needing expert skills like a traditional off-road bike would.
At night, it even projects information on the ground to help you navigate safely in the dark.
When Can We Ride One?
Don’t expect to see this robot bike in showrooms anytime soon. It’s mainly built to showcase Kawasaki’s hydrogen-powered future at the 2025 Japan International Expo. However, it gives us a glimpse into what the future of transportation might look like – possibly a motorcycle that’s safer, smarter, and doesn’t get stuck on rough paths.
Maybe in a couple of decades, we really could be riding robotic bikes that act like animals – without the mess or danger.
